Hi! I don’t wear a watch any more… I use my Blackberry as my timepiece so its accuracy is important to me. This post will show you how to keep your Blackberry clock current.

Depending on your settings (which we’ll look at in a moment), your Blackberry can be getting its time from the network. That’s the right thing to do and I have my berry set to do that. What happens, though, is that sometimes your phone is off the network and the clock falls out of sync.

How, you might ask? When you reboot your phone, do a battery pull, or your Blackberry gets hung up, you’re possibly affecting the clock. So what do we do?

Here are the quick, easy steps to make sure your Blackberry is keeping the right time.

Go to ‘Options’ on your Blackberry. You can use the icon (it looks like a wrench) or, if you have dial from home screen set to off off, press ‘o’. You’ll see this on your phone:

Scroll down to ‘Date/Time’ and click the trackball/trackpad/press enter. You’ll see something like the screen below.

Scroll down to the ‘Date/Time’ section and where it shows ‘Use Network Time’, make sure it says ‘Yes’. It’s set that way in the screenshot above.

Now, press the Blackberry menu key (the one to the left of the trackball/trackpad) and you’ll see this:

Highlight the ‘Update Time’ command and click it (or press return). Your Blackberry will grab the current time from the network and your clock will be precisely accurate!

If you changed any of the settings in the Date/Time screen, you’ll be prompted to save them when you exit. Do it.

For the future, you can quickly make sure your clock is accurate by doing selecting options, then date/time, pressing the menu and update time.
